It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Zacharias Tsourakis on Monday, May 18th 2026.
He leaves behind his loving and devoted wife of 53 years, Evangelia Tsourakis. Beloved Father of Penelopi and Antonios (Angela) Tsourakis. Proud grandfather to Evangelia Brilakis, Eva and Zachary Tsourakis.
Zacharias is predeceased by his parents Antonios and Penelopi Tsourakis of Crete, Greece. He will be dearly missed by those he leaves behind, his dear brother Pavlos (Maria) Tsourakis of Crete, his brother-in-laws Ioannis (Maria), Kosta (Rena), Dimitri (Maria) of Crete and his sister-in-law Eleni (Nicholas) of Ottawa. He will be missed by many nieces and nephews who he loved dearly.He had dear friends and koumbaroi that he spent many years with, whom he held dear as family. He will be fondly remembered by them, and many neighbours who he enjoyed spending time with.
Zacharias was born in Souda Crete, he spent some time as a young man working on the ships, which he loved sharing all his adventures, especially to his grandchildren. He went back to Souda, married his wife Evagelia and immigrated to Montreal, Canada in 1973. He was a very hardworking man, he spent many years in the restaurant business in both Montreal and Ottawa, where he made many friends.
Family and friends may pay their respects on Thursday, May 21st at 11:00 a.m. at St. Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church (3780 du Souvenir, Chomedey, Laval). The funeral service will follow at 12:00 p.m. Immediately following the funeral, interment will take place at the Notre-Dame-de-L'Espérance cemetery.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Cancer Society Foundation would be appreciated.
