In Loving Memory of Stavroula Ambelakiotis (née Galinea)
With profound sadness, we announce the passing of Stavroula Ambelakiotis (née Galinea), who passed away peacefully on March 11th 2026, at the age of 86.
Stavroula was born on January 1st 1940, in the beautiful village of Kardamyli, Greece. Carrying with her the traditions, strength, and warmth of her homeland, she later immigrated to Montreal in the 1960 s, where she built a life devoted to family and community.
She was the beloved wife of the late Petros Ambelakiotis, with whom she shared a lifetime of love and dedication. Together they built a close-knit family that remained the center of her world.
Stavroula leaves behind her loving daughters, Margarita and Niki (Terry), who were her pride and joy. She was a cherished and devoted grandmother to Paraskevas (Katherine), Petros, Samantha, and Stavroula, and a proud great-grandmother to Ariana and Theodore, who brought her immense happiness.
A woman of generosity and deep community spirit, Stavroula volunteered for many years with the Hellenic Community of Greater Montreal (HCGM) where she offered her time, kindness, and dedication to supporting the Greek community she loved so deeply.
She will always be remembered for her strength, her warm heart, her unwavering love for her family, and the pride she carried for her Greek heritage. Her home was always open, her table always full, and her love endless.
Family and friends are invited to pay their respects at the viewing on Monday March 16th from 2:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m and on Tuesday March 17th at 9:30 a.m to 10:45 am at Complexe Yves Légaré. A prayer and burial will take place at Papineau Cemetery (located next door to Yves Légaré Funeral Complexe).
Her memory will live on in the hearts of her family and all who had the blessing of knowing her.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the HCGM Fundraising Committee or the Palliative Care Unit at the Sacré-Coeur Hospital.
