Maria Caferra (Pomilio) 1933 - 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs. Maria Caferra (Pomilio), who passed away peacefully on September 25, 2025, at the age of 92, surrounded by her loving family. Maria was born on February 13, 1933 in the town of Pietraferrazzana, Abruzzo, Italy to Vincenzo and Esterina Caferra.
Beloved wife of the late Benito Pomilio for 64 years, cherished mother of Mary (Pierre), Gina (Steve), James (Rosemary), Dino (Jennifer), and Sonia (Manny). Devoted grandmother of Nadia (Ronnie), Stefano (Sandra) ,Tania (Paulo), Marco (Tiffany), Patrick, Jackson, Nicholas, Cristina, Justin, and Dante, and a loving great-grandmother to Sofia, Riccardo, Luciano, Liam, and Damiano. Maria will also be deeply missed by her dear brother Harry (Gaby), and will be lovingly remembered as she joins her late sister Rosaria (Domenico) and her late brother Aurelio (Monique). She leaves behind numerous extended family members and close friends who will miss her dearly.
The family will receive condolences on October 8, 2025 from 5:00 pm to 9:00 pm at Yves Légaré Funeral Home, located at 7200 boulevard Newman, LaSalle.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday October 9, 2025 at 11:00 am at Madre Dei Cristiani Church, 1600 Thierry Street, and thence, to Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and caregivers at the CHSLD Bayview for their wonderful support and care.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Canadian Heart and Stroke Foundation would be sincerely appreciated.
