Constantina (Dina) Matsoukas, beloved sister, favourite aunt and treasured friend, passed away on December 29, at the age of 90.
Dina moved through life making meaningful connections and following her own rhythm - ahead of her time in ways both quiet and profound. Whether she was helping new immigrants find their way, fighting passionately for a cause she believed in or acting as the sole female voice in a room of men, she was committed to shaping a better world. To strangers lucky enough to cross her path, her sense of humour was a sliver of sunshine on a grey day. To those closest to her, she was love personified.
As a business owner, she often remembered customers by name. As an aunt, she claimed her nephews and nieces as her own. As a friend, she celebrated one s joys and navigated one s sorrows with equal devotion. In her final weeks, she summed up a life well lived as find good people and hold them close .
She will be remembered for her style, wit and compassion. She lives on in every soft tuft of blonde, extra bit of sparkle, cheeky wink and trailblazing spirit.
Dina is survived by her sisters, Sasa Aggelopoulou, Popi Barogiannis and Kiki Matsouka; her nephew, John Barogiannis (Helen); her nieces, Cathy Barogiannis, Giota Aggelopoulou, Fotini Poulou, Valerie Barogiannis; and her grand-nieces and grand-nephews.
Thank you to everyone at La Maison de La Sérénité for making her final days warm, loving and peaceful.
Her family welcomes anyone whose heart she touched to pay their respects on Tuesday, January 6 from 3-8pm at Yves Légaré Laval. The funeral will be held on Wednesday, January 7 at 10am at St Nicholas Greek Orthodox Church.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made at La Maison de la Sérénité.
