Athina Timotheatos, beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and devoted member of her church community, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2026, just three months shy of her 101st birthday.
Born on May 25, 1925, in Lechena, Ilias, Greece, Athina grew up surrounded by strong family values and deep faith. In 1950, she emigrated to Canada, where she built a new life and married her husband, Gerasimos Timotheatos. Together, they established roots grounded in devotion to family, church, and community.
Athina was deeply involved in her community and was a proud member of the very first Philoptochos Society formed at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Parish. Her life was one of service - she volunteered tirelessly for her parish and gave generously of her time and spirit to those around her. Faith was not just part of her life; it was her life.
She will be remembered for her resilience, her kindness, and her generosity. Athina was extremely energetic, with a quiet strength and a giving heart that touched everyone who knew her. She played a vital role in bringing up her grandchildren, Athyna and Chris, alongside her daughter, offering daily guidance, support, and a love that helped shape their lives.
She is survived by her daughter Catherine (George); her grandchildren - Athyna Papachristou (Eric) and Chris Papachristou (Annie); as well as her cherished great-grandchildren Zachary and Alexander Yannakis, Katia, and Chloe Papachristou.
