Morris Marian Lach

1924-2023
Peacefully on December 22, 2023, Morris Marian Lach died at the age of 99.

Predeceased by his parents Paul and Eva (1971) and his younger brother Emile (2012).

Morris is survived by Annie Dutka, his loving wife of 74 years, and his daughters Alice (Zenon), Nadine (Victor) and Elaine.

Cherished grandfather of Andrew, Nicholas (Martine), Lara (Peter), Michael (Carolina), Melanie, Matthew (Olivia). Adored great-grandfather of William, Evangeline, Darren, and Mateo.

He will be sadly missed by his nephew, nieces, cousins, extended family, and friends.

Born on October 21, 1924, in Ripnyk, Poland, Morris arrived in Canada in 1938. He served in the Royal Canadian Air Force (RCAF), obtained a Technical Engineering certificate, became a Master Electrician, and created “Lach Electric Company”. After 35 years of employment, he retired from CN Railways.

Morris was a proud and active member of the Ukrainian community in Montreal. He served in various organizations and committees of St. Sophie Ukrainian Orthodox Cathedral, and was president of Mazeppa Branch 183 of the Royal Canadian Legion for 27 years.

In his spare time, he enjoyed stamp collecting, creating stained glass art, construction, and fixing anything that was broken.

A sincere thank you to all the staff at Le Vivalis for their wonderful care and support over the past year, and to Dr. Sean Pallay for his time, attentiveness, and understanding.

Visitation Thursday, January 4, 2024, 2:00 PM - 6:00 PM with memorial service at 5:00 PM.

Additional memorial service Friday, January 5, 2024 9:00 AM.

 

Funeral Friday, January 5, 2024, 10:30 AM.

 

Followed by burial at Mount Royal Cemetery.
