It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Irene Gurklys, on August 1, 2024, at the age of 73. She is predeceased by her parents Ann and Peter Gurklys
She will be deeply missed by her cousins, nieces, relatives and many friends. She was of Lithuanian decent, participated in the church choir for many years and was a wonderful high school teacher.
The family will receive condolences on Tuesday, August 6, 2024 from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm and from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and also on Wednesday, August 7, 2024 from 9:00 am to 10:30 am at LaSalle Complex : 7200 Newman Boulevard.
A funeral service will be held on Wednesday August 7, 2024 at 11:00 am at Ausros Vartai (Our Lady Gate of Dawn Church / Église Notre-Dame-Porte-l'Aurore).
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the first responders for their wonderful support and care, and to all medical personnel who took care of her in the past.

Condolences to the family
I have only just received the very sad news. I was a teaching colleague of Irene’s at Royal West. In fact we had our joint retirement breakfast together there in 2006. As well as being an excellent, respected and well-loved teacher, Irene was a valued and reliable friend to all . - with a great sense of humour. All laughs we shared together on a daily basis will never be forgotten.. My sincere belated condolences to her family and other friends.
Had met Irene while she lovingly accompanied her father on his journey at the CHSLD Champlain in Verdun. Was so sorry to learn of her passing. May loving memories bring you peace, comfort and strength.

Irene was our neighbor and close friend. We spent many happy moments together over the years. We often spoke about Spiritual Matters and the hope of the resurrection as brought out in the Holy Scriptures (John 5:28-29) We are confident that we will see her and her mother and dad again. Our condolences to her relatives and friends.

"Matante" Irene, ton départ nous as tous mis sous le choc et tu vas nous manquer. Mais dans ma tête, tu es partis rejoindre tes parents adorés, ta tante Pat, et ta meilleure amie/ta soeur Constance. Tu étais ma dernière connection à ma ma maman et je te remercie d'avoir pris une encore plus grande place dans nos vies, quand maman a quitté. Tu es même venue avec Jo, Oza et moi voir pleins de spectacles que maman avait planifié de venir voir avec nous (dont Bruno Mars). Ta dernière visite chez moi m'a beaucoup touché et j'apprécie tous les bons souvenirs de toi et Maman que tu m'as raconté. Je m'en souviendrai toujours.
