It is with deep sorrow and heartfelt love that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother Filomena Cianciullo Maiorano just shy of the age of 95. Born in (Jelsi) Campobasso, Italy, Filomena and her husband Michele, courageously left their homeland in pursuit of a better life. First stopping in Venezuela, they settled in Montreal where they built a life full of strength, love, and devotion.
A woman of extraordinary resilience, Filomena embraced the challenges of immigration and the promise of a new life with unwavering determination and grace. She raised her family with love and care, always putting others before herself. Her journey from Italy to Montreal was just the beginning of a remarkable legacy that continues to shine through her children, grandchildren, and all those who were lucky enough to know her.
Filomena was predeceased by her beloved husband Michele Maiorano, son Biagio Maiorano and son il-law Franco Morabito. Left to cherish her memory are her loving daughter, Teresa Morabito, daughter in-law Maria Maiorano, and her grandchildren Sammy (Cynthia), Stefania (Pasquale), Jamie (Francine) and great grandchildren Gianluca, Alessia, Liam and Nathan who will forever carry her wisdom, warmth, and boundless love in their hearts.
She also is survived by her beloved sisters and brothers as well as numerous loving nieces and nephews, all of whom held a special place in her heart.
Family and friends are invited to celebrate her life and bid their farewells during the funeral services, which will be held on Sunday, November 24th, at Yves Légaré Funeral Complex in Anjou (6130 Bd Louis H. La Fontaine, Anjou, QC H1M 1S8) from 2:00–5:00pm and 7:00–9:00pm.
A Funeral Mass will be held Monday November 25th at 11:00 am at Saint-Leonard Catholic Church, 5525 Rue Jarry E., followed by interment at Le Repos Saint-François d'assise Cemetery at 1:00pm.
May she rest in peace, reunited with her son, husband and son in law and surrounded by the love of her family. Her memory will live on forever in our hearts.
We would like to express our deepest gratitude to all of the staff at La Maison de la Sérénité for the exceptional care and compassion you provided to Filomena during her final days. Your kindness, professionalism, and unwavering support brought her comfort and dignity in a time when it mattered most.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to La Maison de la Sérénité in Filomena’s memory.
