Felice De Rosa

1937-2024
It is with deep sadness that we mournfully announce the passing of Felice De Rosa at the age of 86, in Montreal on February 24th, 2024.

A devoted husband, loving father, loyal friend, and dedicated worker, Felice had a heart of gold, sharp mind and gentle soul. He was always ready to lend a hand and give sound advice to loved ones. He worked tirelessly for his family as a young man in his hometown of Ururi, Italy and thereafter abroad. Traveling first to Germany and later to Canada in 1965, making Montreal his new home. There he met and married his wife Valeria in 1971, and started a family.

An avid gardner and winemaker, he had a passion for maintaining his heritage and traditions alive. He deeply enjoyed sharing the goodness he harvested and created so effortlessly, with family and friends. His lush garden, refined wine and tasty homemade sausage were all made from scratch and of high quality. Growing fig trees, peach and cherry trees (in Montreal, no less!) as well as countless vegetables, it was all impressive to see and full of flavor. He poured his love into all he did, both with work and for pleasure, and it showed.

Felice never complained, despite working in construction outdoors in Montreal's humid summers, he handled it effortlessly. Later, in his early 70's a cancer diagnosis came as a shock, yet he never faltered. A man of courage and strength, he didn't despair. He fought with conviction, always positive, following doctor's orders with patience, until his health improved.

Felice's family meant everything to him - his wife, daughter, son, granddaughter and son in law were his world. This deep love extended to his six siblings and his many dear nieces and nephews. He stayed connected with them and made sure they knew the special place each had in his heart.

In honour of Felice’s life, and in lieu of flowers, the family asks that charitable donations be made to The Kidney Foundation of Canada here: https://kidney.ca/

He will be greatly missed by his beloved wife Valeria, son Donato, daughter Loretta (Sebastian), and granddaughter Anabel. He also leaves behind his brother Nicola, sisters in law and many dear nieces and nephews, both in Canada and Italy.

Felice will be forever in our hearts and remembered fondly as a man of grace, selfless and loving. May he rest in peace.

A ceremony in his honor will be held at Yves Légaré Complexes Funéraires, 7200 Newman Blvd, Lasalle on March 3rd, 2024 from 2:00 - 6:00pm. A mass will take place the following day at St. John Bosco Church, 2510 Rue Springland, Montréal at 11:00am.
