Despina Sykiniotis (Born Papoutsi)
1937-2024
It is with deep sadness and heavy hearts that we announce the passing of our cherished mother, grandmother and great-grandmother Despina Sykiniotis, on Wednesday, December 11th, 2024. Despina was surrounded by the love and comfort of her devoted family in her final days, a reflection of the same love and devotion she so freely gave throughout her life.
Despina’s strength, resilience, and unwavering spirit were an inspiration to all who knew her. A kind-hearted and gentle soul, she was the cornerstone of her family. As a wife, she shared a deep, enduring love with her late husband, Nikolaos Sykiniotis, whom she was married to for 56 years. Her love for her family knew no bounds, and her greatest joy was spending time with her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren, always ensuring that every moment was cherished.
Despina leaves behind a legacy of love and devotion to her children: George (Christina), Margarita (Simon), John, and Maria (Evangelos). She was the proud grandmother of Nikolaos (Areti), Cassandra (Mixou Michael), Alexandra (Anthony), Nicholas, and Dionysios Rafael, and the treasured great-grandmother of Panagiotis, Giorgios, Ourania, Zoe, Melissa, Eliana, Leonidas, and Arista.
Despina’s memory will forever be cherished, and her love will continue to guide us in the years to come.
Visitation will be held on Sunday, December 15th, from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. at the Yves Légaré Funeral Home, 1350 Autoroute 13, Laval.
The funeral service will take place on Monday, December 16th, at 12 p.m. at St. Nicholas Church, 3780 Ch. de Souvenir, Laval followed by the burial at The Notre Dame de l'Espérance Cemetery.
If you wish to donate to the Alzheimer's Society in her memory, your kindness would be greatly appreciated.
