Céline Duckmanton 1943-2024

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Céline Moreau Duckmanton on October 9, 2024, at the age of 81, after a long illness. Céline was born on July 30,1943 in Malartic, Québec to the late Roland and Laurette (née Massé) Moreau.

Céline is survived by John Duckmanton, love of her life and beloved husband of 55 years, whom she met in Bagotville, QC and then married in Chatham, NB. Céline is also survived by her daughter Lynn (m. Simon Hagger) and two grandchildren, Matthew and Tessa Hagger. She also leaves behind her surviving siblings Jean-Charles (m. Diane), Robert, Dolorès (m. Germain), Suzanne and Francine (m. Richard), and her many brothers- and sisters-in-law, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends. Celine is also predeceased by her sister Madeleine, and her brother André (m. Lise).

Céline was a trained nurse who served in the Royal Canadian Air Force from 1967-1969 in Québec, Canada and Iserlohn, Germany. She continued her career as a nurse in Montreal, and in 1990 went back to school to obtain a BSc from the Université de Montréal. She then began a new career in clinical research with biopharmaceuticals, until retiring in 2001. From Alaska to the tip of South America, Europe and Australia, Céline adored traveling. She also loved reading, tending her garden, large family gatherings and socializing with friends and neighbors.

A special thanks goes out to the West Island Manor for their excellent care of Céline over the last 3 ½ years.

Funeral services will be held on October 17, 2024 from 10am-12pm including a short service at 11:30am, under the direction of Complexes funéraires Yves Légaré, 14370 Pierrefonds Blvd, Pierrefonds, QC, H9H 4R7. Céline will be laid to rest at Beechwood Cemetery, Ottawa, ON, where she will be buried on October 19, 2024 at 10am.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests that you make a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada or your charity of choice.

 

C'est avec une grande tristesse que nous annonçons le décès de Céline Moreau Duckmanton, survenu le 9 octobre 2024, à l'âge de 81 ans, après une longue maladie. Céline est née le 30 juillet 1943 à Malartic, Québec, de feu Roland et Laurette (née Massé) Moreau.

Céline laisse dans le deuil John Duckmanton, l'amour de sa vie et son époux bien-aimé pendant 55 ans, qu'elle a rencontré à Bagotville, QC, puis épousé à Chatham, NB. Céline laisse également dans le deuil sa fille Lynn (Simon Hagger) et deux petits-enfants, Matthew et Tessa Hagger. Elle laisse également dans le deuil ses frères et sœurs Jean-Charles (Diane), Robert, Dolorès (Germain), Suzanne et Francine (Richard), ainsi que ses nombreux beaux-frères et belles-sœurs, nièces, neveux, cousins ​​et amis. Céline est également décédée avant sa sœur Madeleine et son frère André (Lise).

Infirmière diplômée, Céline a servi dans l'Aviation Royale Canadienne de 1967 à 1969 au Québec, Canada, et à Iserlohn, en Allemagne. Elle a poursuivi sa carrière d'infirmière à Montréal et est retournée aux études en 1990 pour obtenir un baccalauréat ès sciences de l'Université de Montréal. Elle a ensuite amorcé une nouvelle carrière en recherche clinique dans le domaine biopharmaceutique, jusqu'à sa retraite en 2001. De l'Alaska à la pointe de l'Amérique du Sud, en passant par l'Europe et l'Australie, Céline adorait voyager. Elle aimait aussi lire, s'occuper de son jardin, les grandes réunions de famille et socialiser avec ses amis et ses voisins.

Un merci spécial est offert au Manoir de l'Ouest de l'Île pour les excellents soins prodigués à Céline au cours des 3 dernières années et demi.

Les funérailles se dérouleront le 17 octobre 2024, de 10h à 12h, incluant une courte messe à 11h30, aux Complexes funéraires Yves Légaré, 14370, boul. Pierrefonds, Pierrefonds, QC, H9H 4R7. Céline sera ensuite inhumée au cimetière Beechwood, Ottawa, ON, le 19 octobre 2024 à 10h.
