It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Allan Swan, on February 19, 2024, at the age of 89. Allan was born in Scotland and immigrated to Canada in 1956 and settled in Chateauguay, Quebec.
He has joined his loving wife of 52 years, Mary Swan (born McQueen).
Cherished father of June (Tom Westerman), Glenn (Jill Holden), Ian, Heather (Paul Johnston), Sharon (William Parker). Grandfather to Katelyn, Nadia, Thomas, Madison, Brennan, Emilie and Charlotte. Great grandfather to Charlie, Lily, Lydon and Luca.
Allan dedicated his life to his family and community. His passion was piping. He has played with nearly every pipe band in the Montreal area. He was the Ogilvy piper for 40 years and he was well known as the Piper for the H.S.B high school grand march for 25 years.
Allan will be remembered for his kind heart and unwavering devotion to his family and community. May he rest in peace.
The family will receive condolences on Monday February 26, 2024 from 3:00 pm to 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm,and also on Tuesday February 27 from 10:00 am to 12:00 pm at Yves Légaré funeral complex : 123, Maple Blvd in Châteauguay.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday February 27 at 12:00 pm at the same place.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the staff at the Centre d'hébergement Champlain (Châteauguay) for their wonderful support and care. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Alzheimer’s Society of Canada, in memory of Allan, would be appreciated.
