Faye Marsten

1944-2025
Marsten, Faye 1944 - 2025

It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of our beloved mother, Faye Marsten, who left us peacefully on January 21st 2025. She was a woman of many talents and had a heart full of love, touching everyone who had the privilege of knowing her.

Faye was born on September 22nd, 1944 in Montreal and was married to Thomas Kirby (deceased) for 61 years.

Faye is survived by her daughters Caroline and Colleen and son James (deceased), grandchildren Matthew (Allison), Kayleigh (Evan), Kristofer (Sarah), Brittany (Tyrell), Nicholas (Vince), Brendan (Kaleigh) great-grandchildren Jayden, Kloey, Quintyn, Delilah, Rylie, Taaliyah, Taylor, Arria, Amya, James, Theodore, Thomas and Ethan. She will also be missed by her sisters Dorothy (deceased), Alice and Dolores (Thomas) and by all who knew her including all her friends and family.

In her earlier years she worked as a dedicated proofreader by profession. Faye worked in various offices throughout her life, always committed to the meticulous art of ensuring words were perfectly aligned. Her sharp attention to detail and unwavering dedication made her a valued colleague and friend to many.

Outside of her career, Faye found joy in the simple pleasures of life. She loved spending time with her beloved grandchildren. She was always ready to babysit with a smile, sharing her warmth and wisdom. She was also a gifted cook, constantly filling her home with delicious aromas and making family meals a true labor of love.

Her green thumb was evident in the beautiful garden she cultivated with care, and she found peace in the process of painting, allowing her creativity to flourish. Shopping, too, was a favorite pastime, whether she was picking out a gift for a loved one or simply indulging in a quiet stroll through the aisles.

Most of all, Faye cherished her family. Her love was unconditional, her support unwavering, and her presence a constant source of comfort and joy. She taught us all the true meaning of family and made every moment spent together feel special.

Though she is no longer with us, the love she gave will remain in our hearts forever. We take solace in knowing she is at peace, surrounded by the beauty she so loved.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Kidney and Heart Foundation of Canada or the Mental Health Foundation would be appreciated.

My sincerest condolences to you and the boys, as well as to your entire family. I'm so sorry for your loss. As lifelong friends I know how much you loved her. I know how much you admired her and I know how much you did to care for her during her final days. May she rest in peace. They say it gets better with time but it doesn't really. We just learn to live with the pain and though she isn't here physically any longer, her beautiful spirit shall continue to live on and on... I love you Colleen. Be strong my beautiful friend. Know she's in a better place and know how I am here for you always...xx

My sincere condolences to you and your family on the loss of your beloved mother,Colleen. I hope that this poem brings some comfort to you: "Do not stand By my grave, and weep. I am not there, I do not sleep— I am the thousand winds that blow I am the diamond glints in snow I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle, autumn rain. As you awake with morning’s hush, I am the swift, up-flinging rush Of quiet birds in circling flight, I am the day transcending night. Do not stand By my grave, and cry— I am not there, I did not die." — Clare Harner, The Gypsy, December 1934
