It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Matteo Elia Ranieri, who peacefully passed away on May 26, 2024, at the age of 91. Born on January 5, 1933 in Peschici, Italy, Matteo lived his life as a proud husband, father and nonno. His life was characterized by his resilience, love and a cheerful spirit that has left a lasting impression on all those he encountered.
He will be deeply missed by his loving wife of 67 years, Loreta, his children Nina (Tony), Grace (Tony) and Joe (Tania), his grandchildren Rosario, Matteo (Angela), Anthony (Andrea), Michael, Jonathan and Sarah and countless other family members and friends.
Matteo will always be remembered for his infectious smile, his story telling abilities and the core family values he instilled. May he find eternal peace, knowing that his legacy and spirit endures in the hearts and lives of all who had the fortune of knowing him.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the doctors and nurses at the LaSalle Hospital for their wonderful support and care. In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Lasalle Hospital Foundation would be appreciated.
The family will receive condolences on Thursday, May 30, 2024, from 3 pm to 9 pm, and Friday, May 31, 2024 as of 9:30 am at the Yves Légaré Complex in Lasalle, 7200 Newman Blvd. A funeral service will be held on Friday May 31, 2024 at 11:00 am at Madre Dei Cristiani Church, 7935 rue Lefebvre, and thence, to the Rideau Memorial Garden Cemetery.

My deepest condolences on the loss of your dear father. My memories are of his many spirited conversations over a Sunday meal with our family.
