August 28, 1945 - November 1, 2025
It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Vincenzo Farinelli, age 80. He passed away peacefully on Saturday, November 1, 2025, at LaSalle General Hospital.
Born on August 28, 1945, in Pozza (Acquasanta Terme, Italy) to Sante and Elisabetta (D Alesio) Farinelli, our dad first came to Canada (Hamilton) with his older siblings and father at the age of 14 in pursuit of better opportunities. After a couple of years, he moved to Montreal and lived with his beloved Zia Annetta & Zio Nazzareno and his dear cousins for two years before returning to Italy to marry our mom. In 1965, at the age of 19, mom and dad immigrated to Montreal in pursuit of a better life. In 1966, they welcomed the first of five daughters; by 1972, they ended their attempt for a son. He got more than what he wanted in his girls: he taught Sonny #1 to #5 to play sports; how to catch and throw a mean hard ball or a football; home games at the stadium watching the Expos play and so much more.
Vincenzo is survived by his devoted wife of 60 years, Michelina; his daughters Elisabetta, Anna, Agata, Sandra (Nigel) and Carla; and his beloved grandchildren Francesco, Cameron, Gabriel, Sarah, Madison and Alessandra. He will be missed by his loving family, siblings, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Our father s greatest joy was his grandchildren. He loved them tanto-tanto ! Rarely did Nonno deny them anything. He took great pride and pleasure teaching them to make home-made wine, tomato sauce, sausages, foraging for mushrooms at their secret place , building bonfires and taking turns on his lap mowing the lawn at his happy place in Rigaud. He and mom enjoyed so many beautiful memories with family, friends and neighbors at the country playing bocci, cards, chatting and eating their homemade ricotta and caciocavallo.
The family will have a viewing on Sunday, November 9th from 11 am-4 pm followed by a mass in the chapel. Both the viewing and the mass will be held at Funerary Complexes Yves Legaré (7200 Blvd Newman H8N 1X2, Lasalle).
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation of Montreal or the Canadian Diabetes Association of Montreal in our dad s memory.
Forever in our hearts, dad.
It is no longer possible to buy flowers for this deceased.
Still #countdown# to send these flowers to the exhibition complex!
