July 25, 1932 - August 3, 2026

It is with profound sadness and a heart forever changed that I announce the peaceful passing of my beloved mother, Sofia Tsirgiotis-Xypolytos, on August 3, 2026, at 4:50 p.m., surrounded by the love of her family.

Born on July 25, 1932, in Perivolia, Evia, Greece, my mother was one of eight children born to the late Constantinos and Angeliki Tsirgiotis. From her earliest years, she carried within her the qualities that would define her remarkable life: unwavering faith, quiet strength, compassion, humility, and unconditional love.

My mother faced every hardship with courage and every challenge with grace. Even during her courageous battle with cancer, she never allowed her illness to define her. Instead, she continued to show kindness, offer comfort, and give love freely to everyone fortunate enough to know her.

She was the heart of our family. Her kindness knew no limits, her generosity touched countless lives, and her faith guided her through every season of life. She always placed others before herself, giving without hesitation and loving without condition. Her gentle spirit, warm smile, and beautiful soul will forever remain in the hearts of those who had the privilege of knowing her.

Sofia was a devoted wife to my beloved father, Petros, with whom she shared a lifetime of love, memories, and devotion. Their love was a beautiful example of commitment and partnership. While my heart aches from losing her, I find comfort in knowing that she is no longer suffering and has been reunited with the love of her life.

As her only child, I was blessed beyond measure to be loved by my mother every single day of my life. I was her daughter, her greatest joy, and the center of her world, just as she was mine. The love she gave me shaped who I am today. Every sacrifice she made, every lesson she taught, every prayer she whispered, every embrace she gave, and every word of encouragement she shared became a part of me. She believed in me before I believed in myself, stood beside me through every moment, and loved me with a love that was truly unconditional.

She also loved my husband, Perry, with all her heart. He was never simply a son-in-law to her. He was the son she had always dreamed of having and loved him as her own. Their bond was filled with laughter, respect, affection, and unwavering support. Knowing how deeply they loved one another is a gift I will carry with me forever.

Although my heart is broken beyond words, I find peace in knowing that my mother's love, kindness, and compassion will continue to live on through everyone whose life she touched.

Mom, thank you for loving us so completely. Thank you for showing us that true strength is found in kindness, humility, and selfless love. You were my greatest blessing, my safest place, my biggest cheerleader, and the heart of our family. The greatest privilege of my life was being your daughter.

I will miss you every day for the rest of my life, but I promise to honour your memory by living with the same grace, generosity, and love that you shared so freely with the world.
Until we meet again, hold Dad's hand, watch over Perry and me, and know that you will forever live in our hearts.

The family will receive condolences on Sunday, August 9, 2026, from 4:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

A funeral service will be held on Monday, August 10, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at St. Nicholas Church, 3780, chemin du Souvenir, and thence to the Papineau Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Sofia's memory to the Fondation de l'Hôpital Marie-Clarac. Our family is deeply grateful for the compassionate care, dignity, comfort, and kindness shown to my mother and to us during her final days. The team at Hôpital Marie-Clarac cared for her with extraordinary tenderness and respect, and for that we will be forever thankful.

Donations may be made through Sofia's commemorative page:

May she rest peacefully in the loving embrace of God, and may her memory be eternal.
