It is with great sadness that we announce the peaceful passing of Mr. Richard Cooney on January 25, 2026, at the age of 81. Beloved husband for 49 years of the late June Graham, Richard was a cherished and devoted father to Kim Cooney (Karim Kuperhause) and Kelly Cooney (David Novak). He was a proud and loving grandfather to Quinn, Kennedy, Brayden, and Ethan, and deeply treasured time spent with his grandchildren sharing family dinners, attending soccer games, and enjoying musical and ballet performances together.
Known for his great sense of humour and gift for storytelling, Richard brought warmth and laughter wherever he went. He will be deeply missed by his family, relatives, and many dear friends. Forever loved and never forgotten.
The family will receive condolences on Saturday February 7th from 12:30 pm to 4:00 pm at Yves Légare Lasalle 7200 boul. Newman
A ceremony will be held the same day at 4:00 pm in the parlour of the complex.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the doctors and nurses at the Hôpital Royal Victoria for their wonderful support and care.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Diabetes Canada Foundation would be appreciated.
