Mary Maiorano (née Garanito)
It is with profound sadness that we announce the passing of Mary Maiorano (née Garanito), at the age of 72, on January 2, 2026, at the Palliative Care Unit of Lakeshore Hospital in Pointe-Claire, Quebec, surrounded by her loved ones.
Beloved wife of Biagio for 51 years. Devoted mother of John (Erika) and Jennifer (Simon). Cherished Avo to Roman, Lucas, Frederik, and Abigail. Dear sister of Bernardino (Lina) and Danny (Sabrina), and sister-in-law to Giovanna (late Gerardo Tangredi). Mary will also be lovingly remembered by her nieces, nephews, extended family, and many friends.
Born on February 2, 1953, in Madeira, Portugal, Mary immigrated to Montreal with her family in 1964. She dedicated 42 years of service to the Royal Bank of Canada, where she held various positions throughout her career.
Mary s life was defined by her unwavering commitment to her family. She devoted herself fully to caring for her husband, children, and grandchildren, always placing their needs before her own. She valued respect, responsibility, and kindness, and lived those values daily. An avid reader who kept herself well informed, Mary enjoyed cooking, gardening, and sharing her knowledge with those around her. Most of all, she found her greatest joy in caring for family and friends in ways that were meaningful and personal.
Mary will be deeply missed and fondly remembered for her kindness towards others, her devotion to those she loved, and the quiet strength with which she cared for her family.
The family will be receiving condolances on January 15 2026 from 1:00 pm to 5:00 pm and from 6:00 pm to 9 pm at the Complexe funéraire Yves Légaré de Pierrefonds, 14370, Boul. Pierrefonds, Pierrefonds, H9H 4R7.
The funeral will be held at 11:00 am, on January 16 2026 at the St Thomas à Becket Church ,4320 Ste. Anne, Pierrefonds (QC) H9H 4Y7.
In lieu of flowers, donations in Mary s memory may be made to the Canadian Cancer Society.

C est avec une profonde tristesse que nous annonçons le décès de Mary Maiorano (née Garanito), à l âge de 72 ans, le 2 janvier 2026, à l unité de soins palliatifs de l Hôpital Lakeshore de Pointe-Claire, au Québec, entourée de ses proches.
Épouse bien-aimée de Biagio pendant 51 ans. Mère dévouée de John (Erika) et Jennifer (Simon). Grand-mère (AVO) adorée de Roman, Lucas, Frederik et Abigail. Chère soeur de Bernardino (Lina) et Danny (Sabrina), et belle-soeur de Giovanna (feu Gerardo Tangredi). Mary laisse également dans le deuil ses nièces, ses neveux, sa famille élargie et ses nombreux amis.
Née le 2 février 1953 à Madère, au Portugal, Mary a immigré à Montréal avec sa famille en 1964. Elle a consacré 42 ans de sa vie à la Banque Royale du Canada, où elle a occupé divers postes.
La vie de Mary était marquée par son dévouement indéfectible à sa famille. Elle s'est entièrement consacrée à son mari, ses enfants et ses petits-enfants, faisant toujours passer leurs besoins avant les siens. Elle chérissait le respect, la responsabilité et la bienveillance, et incarnait ces valeurs au quotidien. Lectrice passionnée et toujours soucieuse de son information, Mary aimait cuisiner, jardiner et partager ses connaissances avec son entourage. Par-dessus tout, elle trouvait sa plus grande joie à prendre soin de sa famille et de ses amis de manière significative et personnelle.
Mary nous manquera profondément et restera dans nos coeurs pour sa bonté envers autrui, son dévouement envers ses proches et la force tranquille avec laquelle elle a pris soin de sa famille.
La famille recevra les condoléances le 15 janvier 2026 de 13h à 17h et de 18h à 21h au Complexe funéraire Yves Légaré de Pierrefonds, 14370, Boul. Pierrefonds, Pierrefonds, H9H 4R7.
Les funérailles seront célébrées à 11:00 am, le 16 janvier 2026 en l'Église de St Thomas à Becket ,4320 Ste. Anne, Pierrefonds (QC) H9H 4Y7.
Au lieu de fleurs, des dons à la mémoire de Mary peuvent être faits à la Société canadienne du cancer.
