It is with deep sadness that our family announces the peaceful passing of our cherished mother and grandmother, Maria Leiriao Rodrigues, aged 95 years. After a long and remarkable life filled with love, resilience, and quiet strength, she left this world the same way she lived in it - gently, gracefully, and surrounded by those who adored her.
Born into a time so different from our own, she witnessed nearly a century of change, yet her values remained timeless: kindness, generosity, hard work, and unwavering devotion to her family. She was the heart of our family - the warm voice on the phone, the keeper of traditions, the one who could turn ordinary days into memories simply by being present.
Her hands baked, comforted, mended, and held generations together. Her stories carried wisdom. Her laughter brightened rooms. And her love - steady, patient, and unconditional - shaped each of us into who we are today.
At 95, she lived a full life defined not by possessions but by the people she touched. She taught us what it means to show up for others, to stay strong through hardship, and to find joy in simple things: a cup of tea, a family meal, a sunny day, a visit from those she treasured.
Though we feel the weight of her absence, we take comfort in knowing she has earned her rest. Her legacy lives on in our hearts, in our families, and in every story we will tell about her for years to come.
Predeceased by her loving husband, Jose Rodrigues, she leaves behind her beloved daughter Paula (Licinio); her adored grandchildren Kenny (Diana) and Jeffrey (Amanda); her treasured great-grandson James; her sisters Irene and Gracinda; and countless loved ones who will forever carry her love forward.
The family will receive condolences on Wednesday, December 17, 2025 from 2 pm to 5 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm, and Thursday, December 18, 2025 as of 9 am at Yves Légaré 7200 Bd Newman, LaSalle, QC H8N 1X2.
A funeral service will be held on Thursday December 18, 2025 at noon in the Complex Chapel and thence, to the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery.
May her gentle soul rest in peace. May her memory be a blessing.
