It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mrs Kalliopi Predaris Zorbas March 3rd, 2025, at the age of 83.

Kalliopi is survived and missed by her husband Panayiotis, and her children Eugenia (Paul), Joanna and Alexandra (George); her grandchildren, Sophia, Alexander, Kalliopi, Katrina, Elias and Catherine; her brother Panayiotis (Popi).

Born in the village of Vamvakou, Greece, on April 22nd, 1941, Kalliopi and her brothers endured the unthinkable tragedy of being orphaned in the Greek Civil War. She relocated with her youngest brother Spiro to Vresthena, and eventually moved to the city of Piraeus where the three siblings were reunited. She met her husband Panayiotis there and they embarked on a journey that led them to Nigeria and, ultimately, to Montreal.

Kalliopi wholeheartedly embraced her new home, balancing work and family with unwavering determination. Like so many immigrants to Montreal, she took language courses in the evenings and developed a love for hockey. Moving from the heat and bright sun of Greece and Nigeria to Canada, Kalliopi’s passion for gardening never wavered, even as the winter months repeatedly erased her work. She never complained about starting over. Instead, she found joy in the process.

This boundless energy extended to every aspect of her life. Despite Kalliopi’s busy schedule, she found joy in raising her children and beloved grandchildren, instilling them with the values of hard work and resilience. She filled her home with music and dance, a constant presence in her kitchen through the decades as her children marveled at her grace and elegance. She was a powerhouse both in work and in play. Known for her radiant smile, incredible cooking, and an ability to weather even the most difficult circumstances, she is the irreplaceable pillar of three generations. Kalliopi’s warmth and spirit will forever be cherished.

The family will receive condolences on Thursday, March 13th 2025 from 3pm to 8pm.

A funeral service will be held on Friday March 14th, 2025, at 11:00 am at Holy Cross Greek Orthodox Church, 4865 Chem. du Souvenir, and thence, to the Notre-Dame-de-L'Espérance Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Montreal Children’s Hospital Foundation can be made in memoriam of Kalliopi : https://shorturl.at/IFIdD
