It is with great sadness that we announce the passing of Mr. Henryk Kowynia, on September 1, 2026, at the age of 88.
Cherished father of Martin and Tania, he will also be deeply missed by Grazyna, his siblings Wieslawa (Fawzi), Barbara (Wladyslaw), Zofia, Tadeusz (Krystina), the Holy Trinity Church community, the Canadian Polish Congress hall on Jolicoeur, many relatives and friends, and his cat Sunny Sloneczko .
The family will receive condolences on Monday, September 14, 2026 from 2 pm to 5 pm and 7 pm to 9 pm, and Tuesday, September 15, 2026 as of 9:00 am at Yves Légaré complex : 7200, Newman Blvd in Lasalle.
A funeral mass will be held on Tuesday September 15, 2026 at 12:00 pm at Holy Trinity Church (Swieta Trojca), 1660, rue Centre, and thence, to the Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their gratitude to the doctors and nurses Palliative care unit at the Royal Victoria Hospital for their wonderful support and care.
In lieu of flowers, a donation to the Holy Trinity Church or to the Canadian Cancer Society would be appreciated.

Born in Poland to a large vibrant family, he grew up with a strong love for the outdoors, animals, growing plants in his garden, and big social gatherings. In 1967, he moved to Montreal and settled down, working and raising a family over the years. He truly enjoyed working with his hands, whether it was canning his vegetables, beekeeping, and helping friends with home repair projects. He was always quick to laugh and brought humour and kindness to any situation. He was proud to volunteer for many communities and organizations, and made sure that you were well-fed if you were a guest in his home. He gave the biggest and strongest hugs, and made the best lasagnas and nalesniki. "I tak to leci"
