Gerald left this world at age 87 on January 28 at the Lachine Hospital. He was predeceased by his two devoted wives, Victoria Tonakino and Nancy Bachleda, as well as his brother Fred, and sister Muriel. He leaves behind his loving sister, Diane Godin (Gilles). He was “Uncle Gerry” to many nieces and nephews. Having grown up in the Villeray area of Montreal, Gerald then moved to the West Island where he lived for over 60 years.

Gerald was a pressman at The Montreal Star and then The Montreal Gazette for many years. One of his proudest moments was when the first coloured photo came off the press at The Star. He was a man of simple pleasures, but deep passions, particularly for the outdoors, where he enjoyed camping and driving his trusty red truck.

RIP, Gerald. Your spirit will forever be a part of the people and places you loved.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, March 16 from 10am to noon at the Complexes funéraires Yves Légaré, Pierrefonds, followed by a service in the chapel. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Montreal Oral School for the Deaf.
