It is with great sadness that I announce the passing of my dear mother Ethel on December 11th at the age of 90. Born November 1st, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Elizabeth McEwan and sister to Edith and her late brothers Kenneth and Arthur. Cherished wife of the late Donald Hyde, loving mother to Gary (Sandra), the late Karen (Jeffrey) and Donna. She will be deeply missed by her grandchildren and her many nieces and nephews. A thank you to the dedicated staff and other residents at Vallee Royale who made her feel part of the family there immediately, and the nurses and doctors at Anna Laberge hospital. A very special and heartfelt thank you to family friend Colleen Clahane who looked after Ethel in so many ways and loved and treated her like she was her own mother.
Ethel retired from Domtar in 1995 after a long and dedicated career after which she took up golfing and bowling and spent many hours with the Chateauguay 55+ club.
She was admired for her fun-loving spirit, sense of humour and her love of dogs. Her wit, love, infectious smile and fight will forever be remembered by all who knew her.
Ethel will be cremated on Monday, December 15th and a service and burial will be held in the spring at Rideau Gardens, Pointe Claire at a yet unspecified date.
