Schedules
It is with great sadness that we advise you of the death of Arminda Linhares on January 6th, 2026 in her 93trd year.
She leaves behind her sister Armenia (Francisco Machado); her children Manuela, Tony, Patricia and their spouses (John Pivnicki, Lysel Andoy and David Bee), her grandchildren David (Stephanie) and Daniel (Christine) Soares; Dimitri, Anastasia (Hashem), and Kristina (Olivier) Pivnicki; James and Jennifer Bee; her step grandchildren Dhansyl and Jade (Estephanie) Gonzales; her great grandchildren Elizabeth, John and Avery, as well as many nephews, nieces and cousins in the Azores and in the US.
Arminda was the loving mother to her children. She was the doting grandmother to her grandchildren.
Arminda was born in Ribeira Quente on the Island of Saeo Miguel in the Azores. She was the fifth of six children. She became a teacher.
Arminda followed her ex-husband and emigrated to Canada with her children in January 1966. For many years she continued her career as a teacher in the local Portuguese Saturday school. Once the children were all in school, she got a job at the Jewish General Hospital first in the dietetics department then in the microbiology lab.
Arminda loved helping her children, spoiling her grand-children and just spending time with family. Despite her fear of flying she visited her children in Calgary numerous times. She particularly enjoyed having family portraits taken by photographers. Arminda had a unique sense of fashion and adored vests, coats and hats.
