Mom was known for her determination and for doing things her own way and in her own time. With that, on Easter Sunday, she embarked on her final journey.
Mom loved being a teacher, an incredible happenstance as it was her lifelong desire. Teachers were in demand for the anticipated full classes of baby boomers coming of school age. She taught children from grade two to grade 6 during her 30 plus year career. She also taught Saturday morning classes in Ukrainian.
Our best memories of her as a teacher were when she produced and directed school concerts and put on plays. Her proudest achievement was a production of the rock opera by Andrew Lloyd Webber, Jesus Christ Superstar - the children performed flawlessly and were eager to do their best. Mom was overcome with pride.
In recent years Mom enjoyed her weekly art classes and one of her paintings was featured in a local art exhibition.
Mom was all about family, whether on trips to the beach, family birthdays, Easter or Christmas, she always appreciated having her family together. You could "hear" her smile when she looked at everyone!
Predeceased by the love of her life, her soul mate, Richard Fleming and by her cherished granddaughter, Carolyn Gach.
She was a devoted mother to Natalka (David), William (Sharon) and Oksanna (Frank), loving Babi to Elizabeth, Krista (David), Samantha, Mario (Justine), and Erik (Courtney), doting great-grandmother to Jackson, Allison, Norah, Milo and Julia.
Caring sister to Helena Wywiorka DeVincentis
Our heartfelt thanks to the volunteers and care staff at CHSLD Bayview for making Mom’s final years happy ones.
