With deep sorrow, we announce the passing of Mr. Giovanni Colanzi on March 31, 2025, at the age of 54.
Giovanni was a devoted husband to Gerri for 31 wonderful years and a cherished father to David (Vanessa) and Sarah. He was a beloved son to Antonietta and a loving son-in-law to Francesca. He is predeceased by his father and father-in-law.
Giovanni was also a caring brother to Tom (Fil) and a dear brother-in-law to Pino (Sabrina) and Michelina. He was a proud uncle to Jenna (Daniel), Dino (Julia), Mathew, and Kayla, as well as a great-uncle to Donato.
Growing up surrounded by a large and loving family, Giovanni shared a special bond with his many aunts, uncles, cousins, and relatives, all of whom played a pivotal role in shaping the incredible family man he became.
Giovanni was also deeply loved by his work family, who admired his warmth, generosity, and infectious spirit. His kindness touched everyone who had the privilege of knowing him. He will be profoundly missed, but his memory will forever live on in the hearts of all who loved him.
The family will receive condolences on Monday, April 7, 2025, from 2:00 pm to 5:00 pm and 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm, and Tuesday, April 8, 2025, beginning at 9:30 am at: Yves Légaré funeral complex:7200, Newman Blvd in LaSalle.
A funeral service will be held on Tuesday, April 8, 2025, at 11:30 am at Saint-John Bosco Church, 2510 rue Springland, followed by entombment at Notre-Dame-des-Neiges Cemetery.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the doctors, nurses, and especially Sabrina on D9 at the McGill University Health Centre for their exceptional care, support, and dedication.
In lieu of flowers, donations to the Old Brewery Mission (https://www.missionoldbrewery.ca/en/tribute-gift) would be greatly appreciated in honor of Giovanni’s lifelong compassion for others. His heart never turned away from those in need, always offering kindness, conversation, and a helping hand. His generosity knew no bounds, and he believed everyone deserved warmth, dignity, and a second chance.
May his love and kindness remain in our hearts forever.
