Murlene Thomas 1939-2023

Murlene Jennifer Thomas, (affectionately known as auntie Jenny) was born in St. Ann, Jamaica to Ethel Parson and Joseph Thomas. She passed away peacefully on October 15, 2023, at the age of 83.

Murlene left Jamaica in her 20s to work as a domestic worker in Bermuda and then to Canada. She then worked for 40 years at the Le Sheraton Centre until she retired. Murlene was fun-loving and one to have always have a good laugh. Her greatest gift was priceless; she would spread merriment everywhere she went. She loved her family very much and will be remembered by all. Murlene battled CVA, and pneumonia and tackled these challenges with grace.

She is survived by her bird Johanne, brothers Leslie (Pat) and Headley (BaBo) Maxwell, nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, and many close friends. She is predeceased by her mother Ethel Parson, father Joseph Thomas, son Danny, sisters Joyce, Cecilia, and Iris, brother Leonard, niece Faye, and nephew Winston.

The family will receive condolences at the Yves Légaré funeral home, Lasalle from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. on Saturday November 4, 2023. The funeral home is located at 7200 Newman Blvd, LaSalle, Quebec, H8N 1X2

A ceremony will be held on site at 11:00 a.m. Cremation will follow. The family wishes to thank the entire medical team and volunteers at the Notre Dame Hospital for their incredible support. Donations in Murlene’s memory can be made to the hospital.
