Catherine Alice May McHarg (Née Carruthers)

After several years of declining health, Cathy passed away peacefully in her 87th year, on the palliative care unit of the Lachine hospital.

Beloved husband and best friend of Kenny McHarg. They were married for 67 years and raised three children. She was a loving and supportive mother to her children and their spouses. Kevin & Sue (Sarnia, Ontario) Karen (deceased) & Mike Goodfellow (Calgary, Alberta) and Darrin & Belinda (Ravensthorpe, Australia).

Loving Nana to two grand daughters, Carolyn & Chris (Sarnia) and Hailey & Patrick (Montreal). Proud Great Grandma to Logan & Flynn.

Predeceased by brother David and his wife Mildred, Bill (Marlene), Jack (Muriel), and sister Rita. She will be missed by her brother Bobby and his wife Pat. She was a sister in law to Tommy, Betty John, Kay and George. Cathie loved riding her bike to Walters pool every weekday during the summer to hang out with her dear friend Chris and her many other “pool buddies”. Her evenings were often spent at local ball parks supporting her umpire husband, enjoying the ball game, but most of all chatting it up with the many friendly players.

Catherine was more than a beloved wife and mother. She was a Nana, Great Grandma, Sister, Sister in law, Aunt, Cousin, Coworker, Neighbour, and Friend to many. She will be missed by those that loved her and fondly remembered by all that crossed her path. We are all better people to have known and loved her.

Cremation has taken place. Due to the many covid restrictions there will be no funeral but the family wish that in leu of flowers you might consider making a donation to the cancer society or do a good deed that will put a smile on a strangers face during these difficult times.

Les condoléances à la famille

Our sympathies from Jo and Joe to you Ken, and all who loved your Cathy. The pair of you are shining examples of what love and commitment looks like. You truly inspire us all. What I know for certain, is that Cathy would grieve as you are in this moment. We know that she would want you to take care of yourself right now and smile again when you think of her and when her name is mentioned, until you are reunited for eternity.
